As expected I have some Biblical comments on all of this. First some of the Bible's accounts of this event. Joel 2:30  And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 
Joe 2:31  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. ( A particularly good ancient description of a nuclear war)
Zec 14:12  And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. (another accurate description of the effects of a nuclear war on human beings)
Zec 14:13  And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. ( chaos and confusion ).
This is for people building bunkers. Isa 28:15  Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: ( they will cook underground like a Maori dinner).
This is what I take comfort from. Psa 91:2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 
Psa 91:3  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 
Psa 91:4  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 
Psa 91:5  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 
Psa 91:6  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 
Psa 91:7  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 
Psa 91:8  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 
Psa 91:9  Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 
This is my Doomsday planning, I guess it's up to everyone how they chose to survive the coming judgement on humanity, as for me, Armageddon out of here !
