Was the destruction of Herod's Temple in Jerusalem foretold? Is it's relevant today?
#1
Herod's temple, which stood on temple mount in Jerusalem was by all documented accounts an impressive structure.Today in it's place stands the AI-Aqsa Mosque much to the dismay of many the current inhabitants.
At the time of Jesus . Matthew Ch  24:1  And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mat 24:2  And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. This prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD when the Jews (of that time) rebelled against the Roman occupation. Josephus, a famous historian ,claims that 1.1 million of the inhabitants of  Jerusalem at that time died, and the temple and much of the city was destroyed. In this Chapter his followers or the early Church were told to flee to the mountains to escape this. Which many did and were spared the wrath of the Romans reinforcing their rule over occupied territories, with an iron fist. They also did a similar clampdown in Roman occupied Britain in the time of Queen Boudica (Boadicea).
The followers asked Jesus a question Matthew Ch 24:3  And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? He went on to speak of an end time where many would claim to be the Messiah and deceive many. There would be constant rumours of wars .That nation shall rise against nation ( ethnic group against ethnic group) Kingdom against Kingdom (countries verses countries). Famines (mankind's greed and manipulation) pestilences ( epidemic' s on a world wide scale) earthquakes in different places ( have a look at the increase in last 100 years). Matthew 24:9  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. Try being a real Christian in this current world.
The Zionist Jews currently have plans to rebuild the temple, and you guessed it, on temple mount (which is world war three). The wall they currently pray at, is not part of the original temple, as there is not one stone left of that. It seems God collects the prayers on paper they place in that wall every night. I guess he reads the prayers that the Buddhist monks spin around in their temples also. Temple worship finished on the day of Pentecost  when the Holy Spirit was given, speaking in tongues. Mat 21:12  And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves. Mat 21:13  And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. The Jews were defrauding the people who came to worship by overcharging them and for example taking 5 coins and turning it into 1 coin of temple money. Sounds a lot like something they dominate today, an institution called the stock market, perhaps Bitcoin (only a guess there).
Luke 21:27  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luke 21:28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
