The fact that anytime an "event" happens, the MSM always goes to the person's Twitter, or FB page. There is your proof. Get off the social media, I quit FB in 2011. was bombarded with crap from them trying to get me to come back for about 6 weeks.
The first 2 weeks I was off was not hard, but liking breaking a bad habit. Hope all can understand my meaning. I can say being free of FB was like breathing clean air.
My decision came after the imprisonment of Brandon Raub, an ex- American soldier, who posted things on FB that got him arrested under the George Bush, Patriot Act. No lawyer, no justice.
I posted on my page of 328 "friends" that as of 9/1, I would no longer be part of FB. If any one of my 328 friends wanted to remain in contact with me, send a personal message & I would hive them my e-mail address.
Not one living soul, responded, not one of the 328 "friends". So what does that say?
#1) The majority of your FB "friends" are not friends at all
#2) If I think about the folks that befriended me were folks I really weren't that close too anyway. More acquaintances, than actual people I was close to & had contact.
#3) I truly feel that people collect FB "friends" like a wild game trophy hunter collects pelts or heads. To be mounted & displayed.
#4) Get off of this garbage. Do it now, do it today. You won't believe how good you will feel.

Hi Carolinabeve,
I have to agree with the sense of liberation from removing yourself from FB. And also the fact that 'friends' are not willing to make contact outside of social media, I found both these things when i came off a few years back.
Those that are true friends will keep being friends regardless of method of communication, they're the ones worth keeping!
I like all the talk about us starting our own web pages if we have something worthy of saying publicly, i may start one soon slating FB, but only if i get enough likes

Agree totally with you re the true friends bit. A year or so ago my niece did a Facebook post as a test, asking for advice about something personal. The only people that responded were her close fiends and family so she decided to unfriend all the people that she never really spoke to.
After all, why do you need to know what somebody you haven't seen for five years is having for his dinner.
I watched a comedian a little while ago who said...
I am so glad we have Facebook, otherwise I would have too drive round half the country to show people a picture of my cat... So very true, sadly
It’s such nonsense anyway... I never felt comfortable with it! Even before I knew it’s morive or just seemed like a tracking device- I can’t belive the amount of people who ‘check in’ to show a map stating exactly where they are!!!!
When I log in there’s nothing worth noting! I just like to keep up with the Icke headlines & a few others in the alternative news network but apart from that! It’s rubbish! In fact I’m going to delete it right now! Lol

I just deleted my account! Smile

Just watched it... I expected nothing less which is why my location services are switched off all the time but I doubt this makes much difference when they can turn on a speaker & listen in at anytime - I deleted Facebook messenger for this reason!

If someone brought "Alexa" into my home I think I would throw "her" as far over my garden fence that I could  lol
Oh don’t... all mi friends have Alexa in their houses and I feel like I am being listened to! Lol
They think she’s the bees knees! I just think why can’t you write your own flipping shopping list with... I dunno a pen & paper? Lol
