In legend, a cross has power over vampire's and demons. The sign of the cross in religion likewise apparently protects travelers and helps football players to play well, even score goals. When I was in the Philippines on one occasion, having dinner with a group of locals. I asked a lady if she thought the cross was a Holy object, her reply was yes. So I said to her if someone grabbed this knife from the table and killed you with it, would this knife be holy. I went on to say, back in the hotel there is a large picture of Mary holding a cross. I then said to her, you are a mother to which she replied yes. I said if your son was killed with a spear would you put up pictures everywhere of you holding the spear that killed your son,to which she quickly said no.
The cross is a weapon of the most vial and inhuman kind, it inflicts a slow horrible death. Galatians CH 3:13 says Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: This statement tells us, by this selfless act Jesus became mankind's representative and suffered death on our behalf, even crying out my God my God why have you forsaken me. The land went dark for three hours over this time and an earth quake tore the veil of the temple from top to bottom. In all this the cross it's self played no part.
There is a story in Moses time in the wilderness  Numbers Ch 21 were the people where being bitten by fiery serpents. So Moses was told to make a serpent of brass and mount it on a pole (sometimes the symbol of the medical profession) and lift it up. Whosoever gazed on it was healed of the power of the serpents. Later in 2Kings CH 18:4 the people had started to worship the serpent on the pole and had forgotten the message of it.
In the new testament Jesus said in John 3:14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: John 3:15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. In other words, have power over the work of the serpent. In bible numeric' s Jesus name adds up to 888, eight being the number of new beginning. The devil and or Satan is 13 x 13 x 13, thirteen is the number of rebellion. This sequence of numbers only appears once again in the Bible on the sign written above Jesus head on the cross.
What he did that day was to win a victory over the serpent,so no, the cross in it's self has no power.
Perhaps some will find this story interesting. Some of the traditions people have been taught, are just superstition and are not Christian at all.
