This reply has been a long time coming given the post was in 2018 ... I just want to thank you Steve for posting this information, although the Nexus link has expired, from your post I found the study on the Dallas University website and, well what can I say? First I had no idea that a study of it's kind existed nor even considered one to be made and secondly, it was a very significant moment for me after reading the paper.
I don't need to explain what I am as the fact I am here is a giveaway - but the music aspect ... There is NO TV transmission into my home, Music is my life my pleasure and every other scenario you can add, I know I am not alone in this vibrational love, be it at the 'level' I am or if you just hear it as a backdrop during a working day, but I did wonder about the link with music to the 'GIFT' afforded me at birth ... Now I know there actually IS a link and a positive one ... This made my day today ... Thank You!
I'll add just to endorse HOW MUCH my day was made - I would be deemed an 'audiophile' because of my striving continually for that even better sound quality than the last one AND I have spent my available finances in doing so, never compromising on my listening equipment, I would also be tagged as a 'GIG JUNKIE', at 55, until this global imprisonment, I traveled UK wide to attend a gig, sometimes a band I had come across new but playing a small place miles away, on a Tuesday night (lol) and maybe 50 in attendance, it could be me and 49 others, but I worked hard all my life and was never one for accumulating numbers on a tiny screen outside a bank stating 'balance' (lol again) if that number was big enough to get me on a 400 miles round trip midweek, I was happy! My drug was finding that NEW band that just .... had it! Recent such bands that were just about becoming known due to one or two high hits on the Indy charts or (OMG BBC praise coming right up) 6 Music had featured them (Thanks Steve Lamacq) ALSO living almost my entire life in Manchester (Greater) it was difficult not to be swept away by either the football or the music (and it's not just one type, I like it ALL except Jazz? I just cannot see it for some reason, except Scat?? but even that is just if it's on where I am lol) Eliminate 2020 - ... so from 2019 backwards, the couple of years previously, the emergence of a Manchester Band called The Slow Readers Club was just grand, I was at the Arts Center in Glasgow the night they said they had the day previously all resigned their jobs and were now a full time professional band and I wanted to support them in this en-devour, attending almost ALL of the forthcoming spring tour dates ... It was like being 18 again lol Others arriving at small venues or those bastions of new music, The Cult Clubs, were Ist Ist and a REALLY NEW band called Blanketman I saw at the legendary Trades Club - to name just a few - I attend many many classical music concerts, a real deep love (Manchester again has The Halle that I see often in Sheffield City Hall besides their own HOME ground at the Bridgewater) and especially for MY personal Maestro, Ludwig Van Beethoven ... Symphony No.9 has a very spiritual connection for me but ALL his work is just ... THERE! Opera, you just HAVE to see it LIVE - it's a totally different experience than recorded. ..... I'll stop here - I did digress a tad lol - BUT you see where I was coming from ... Music is the rhythym of our lives in my humble opinion but it was my first and will be my last ... LOVE!
Thanks Again for posting the information - Today I am having the best day since March 2020 !!!

Hi, Finn - it was great reading about your deep interest in music. Although I don’t sing / play anything myself, my family are very musical - uncle of mine composes, my father was a former BBC Concert Orchestra member and plays trombone and piano and all 3 of my daughters are singer / songwriters!
Just found a further link that’s probably from the original newsfeed...
