"Silver Star" - just what does it mean?
The order of the Silver Star is a secret society (a cult) founded by Aleister Crowley.
Crowley preferred to use the Latin term for the order of the Silver Star, which is "Argentum Astrum" (A.A.)
Crowley said there is a much more powerful sun than the one we learn about in school. Our "lesser" sun is but a reflection of the far greater Silver Star, also known as the dog star, also known as "Sirius".
The Silver Star ("Sirius") is said to be the true source of occult power, the "sun behind the sun".
The Silver Star ("Sirius") may represent hell; or the dwelling place of Lucifer and his hierarchy; or a transmitter emanating influences which produce self-consciousness in man. The nature of the Silver Star varies according to different traditions.
Aleister Crowley insisted that all cult members "must acknowledge the authority of the Beast 666 and the Scarlet Woman."

The order of the Silver Star ("A.A.") consists of eleven grades or degrees:

At the 'Ipsissimus' grade, a cult member is "wholly free from all limitations soever, existing in the nature of all things without discriminations of quantity or quality between them."
