Johnson fights for his life over Partygate but Met Commissioner Dick’s announcement of a police investigation buys him time as Sue Gray inquiry report is delayed

Boris Johnson came out fighting today after police dramatically launched an investigation into Partygate – raising the possibility he could be the first ever PM convicted of a crime in office.
Mr Johnson again denied breaking the law after Scotland Yard chief Dame Cressida Dick announced that the force will probe lockdown breaches in Downing Street and Whitehall over the past two years.
But the row has reached a new level, with staff and even the PM facing questions from police rather than civil servants.
Top mandarin Sue Gray has been carrying out a separate inquiry, which will continue and might even publish some conclusions shortly.
However, in a boon for the premier it will not not now look at any potentially criminal activity, even though the Met seemingly has no objection.
In the Commons, Mr Johnson said he welcomed the police move, saying it could give the public ‘clarity’ and ‘draw a line’ under the allegations.
In a brief reference before making a statement on Ukraine, he insisted the government would remain ‘100 per cent focused on dealing with the people’s priorities’.
The PM’s spokesman insisted he will ‘cooperate fully’ if required to be interviewed.

Boris could be first PM EVER interviewed under police caution as he is told to release Sue Gray’s full partygate report within HOURS of getting it – after she was handed ‘photos of PM next to wine bottles and identified EIGHT parties’

Boris Johnson could become the first Prime Minister ever to be interviewed under police caution as the Partygate scandal continues to grow – while Sue Gray’s civil service report into alleged lockdown-breaking No 10 parties could be released as soon as today.
The civil service inquisitor is understood to have told Number 10 that she expects her findings to be released in full within ‘hours’ of them being handed to Downing Street, reported The Telegraph.
The PM’s office had not received them early this morning, but their delivery is thought to be imminent and could see the report released to the public after PMQs this afternoon.
Sky News last night claimed that she had been handed photographs of Boris Johnson next to wine bottles at an alleged lockdown breaking party, and has identified eight parties that breached the rules.
Many Tory MPs are awaiting the findings before deciding whether to submit letters of no confidence in Johnson that could topple him as Prime Minister and trigger a Tory leadership contest.
But potentially more serious for the PM is Scotland Yard’s criminal investigation into the parties which was announced yesterday.
Police sources told The Times that it was ‘inevitable’ that the PM would have to speak to detectives, making him the second sitting Prime Minister to be interviewed after Tony Blair was quizzed over the cash-for-honours scandal 15 years ago.
However Blair was interviewed as a witness – and no sitting Prime Minister has ever been interviewed under caution which requires officers to read them their rights before the questions begin. Reports at the time indicated that Blair would resign if he was interviewed under caution.

‘Did the rules not apply to him?’ Brazen Boris is lashed by Tories including Theresa May as he offers limp apology for Partygate despite Sue Gray revealing police are probing twelve No10 parties including FOUR ‘he attended’ – with Carrie in the frame

Sue Gray set out her findings in seven sections of her 12-page report today.
[ol]
[li]Against the backdrop of the pandemic, when the Government was asking citizens to accept far-reaching restrictions on their lives, some of the behaviour surrounding these gatherings is difficult to justify.[/li]
[li]At least some of the gatherings in question represent a serious failure to observe not just the high standards expected of those working at the heart of Government but also of the standards expected of the entire British population at the time.[/li]
[li]At times it seems there was too little thought given to what was happening across the country in considering the appropriateness of some of these gatherings, the risks they presented to public health and how they might appear to the public. There were failures of leadership and judgment by different parts of No 10 and the Cabinet Office at different times. Some of the events should not have been allowed to take place. Other events should not have been allowed to develop as they did.[/li]
[li]The excessive consumption of alcohol is not appropriate in a professional workplace at any time. Steps must be taken to ensure that every Government Department has a clear and robust policy in place covering the consumption of alcohol in the workplace.[/li]

UK government human rights reform consultation – another power grab to weaken our rights and make state power unaccountable: #RejectTheReform

This reform is a threat to how and when we can challenge those in power – including stripping some people’s rights away and requiring everyone to get permission from a judge before they can take the state to court. Whatever you think of this Government, they must respect the rule of law. This change will mean future Governments, of all political leanings, will be beyond the reach of public accountability.

Read more about the plans to reform and introduce a ‘modern bill of rights’:

URGENT: UK Government plans to remove Human Rights in the UK ‘for the greater good’ and will apply reforms to the un-fake-vaccinated

The UK government is looking to reform human rights legislation after our divorce with the EU. They want to replace the Human Rights Act with a modern Bill of Rights, “one which reinforces our freedoms under the rule of law, but also provides a clearer demarcation of the separation of powers between the courts and Parliament”.
In December they produced a document – a consultation to reform the Human Rights Act 1998. I am all for reform, if it is done for the right reasons and in the right way, but there are some worrying parts of the document which I will go through below. All emphasis is my own.
By ‘The Naked Emperor’
On page 35 it discusses “a ‘rights culture’ that displaces personal responsibility and the public interest”. It says –
Quote:“the international human rights framework recognises that not all rights are absolute and that an individual’s rights may need to be balanced, either against the rights of others or against the wider public interest. Many of the rights in the Convention are ‘qualified’, recognising explicitly the need to respect the rights of others and the broader needs of society.
I’m sure we all agree that we should respect other people’s rights and consider the broader needs of society. However, these considerations should not trump an individual’s rights which should remain fundamental in a free society. Any talk of changing laws or removing individual’s rights for the greater good, public interest or the needs of society, has never resulted in good outcomes.
The document continues –
Quote:The idea that rights come alongside duties and responsibilities is steeped in the UK tradition of liberty, but is also reflected in the qualifications in the Convention and is explicit in Article 29 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights (‘Everyone has duties to the community in which alone the free and full development of his personality is possible’). The increasing reliance on human rights claims over the years has, however, led to a culture of rights decoupled from our responsibilities as citizens, and a displacement of due consideration of the wider public interest”.

Dick head of the Metropolitan Police resigns after years of incompetence and ‘Covid’ tyranny after pressure from the equally incompetent and tyrannical Sadiq Khan

The head of London’s Metropolitan Police force, Commissioner Cressida Dick, has announced her resignation from the post after meeting with the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, whom she said “no longer has sufficient confidence in my leadership.”
“He has left me no choice but to step aside as Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service,” Dick said in a statement released on Thursday evening, adding that she is resigning “with huge sadness.”
The move comes after a series of scandals involving Met Police officers. A recent report by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) revealed multiple incidents of racism, sexism, and bullying within the Met’s ranks. The report prompted Khan to subsequently warn Dick that she was “on notice” and the force needed to urgently show it had an effective plan for rooting out a culture of racism, homophobia, and misogyny.
At [Khan’s] request, I have agreed to stay on for a short period to ensure the stability of the Met and its leadership while arrangements are made for a transition to a new Commissioner,”Dick added in her statement.
Responding to Dick’s decision, Khan said he had “made clear” to the Met chief “the scale of the change” necessary to rebuild public trust in the force, but he was “not satisfied with the Commissioner’s response.” The mayor also thanked Dick for her 40 years of “dedicated public service” and that he would work with the Home Secretary to appoint a successor.
In comments posted on Twitter, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson thanked Dick for her “great dedication” and her “role protecting the public and making our streets safer.”
The first female head of Scotland Yard, Dick spoke in her statement of the achievements of the force over her almost five year-tenure, while acknowledging that the high-profile murder of Sarah Everard by a then-serving Met officer and “many other awful cases” had “damaged confidence in this fantastic police service.”
“There is much to do – and I know that the Met has turned its full attention to rebuilding public trust and confidence,” she underlined, adding that she is “very optimistic” about the future of both Scotland Yard and London.
The Met has been subject to a lengthy list of public scandals in recent years. In September 2021, former officer Wayne Couzens was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping and murdering Everard the previous March. An increase in the number of street attacks and knife crime has also drawn criticism of the force’s leadership.

French Freedom Convoy crackdown: Fascist riot police teargas terrified DINERS at pavement cafes in Paris (forcing them to use their mandatory ‘Covid’ masks while fleeing). Fascist AND insane then

French riot police tear gassed terrified diners at restaurants as protesters clashed during violent demonstrations in Paris against Covid rules and energy price rises.
Families with children had to cover their faces with their mandatory Covid masks as they fled from tear gas in cafés on the streets of the French capital.
Paris has been brought to a halt with police also using baton charges on demonstrators making a Canadian-style ‘Freedom Convoy’ protest, defying a ban by authorities aiming to stop a blockade of the city.
Despite the presence of some 7000 officers on the streets and armoured cars, Paris’ most famous roundabout – the Étoile (Star) around the Arc de Triomphe – was gridlocked by early afternoon as arrests were made.
An officer at the scene said: ‘Unauthorised demonstrators are using their vehicles to block the traffic, and they are being supported by others without vehicles.
‘Everything is being done to prevent this unauthorised demonstration from continuing.’
Earlier in the day, police intercepted at least five convoys attempting to enter the capital and handed tickets to more than 200 motorists.
