UK has another new PM that answers first to the WEF instead of Great Britain

Liz Truss: Tory MPs sending no-confidence letters over fears she will ‘crash the economy’, says ex-minister

Some Conservative MPs have already sent letters of no-confidence in Liz Truss’s leadership over fears she will “crash the economy”, a former minister has claimed.
Top economists, currency markets, opposition parties and some Tory MPs have reacted with dismay to the prime minister and chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s borrowing-fuelled tax cut spree.
An ex-minister in Boris Johnson’s government told Sky News that the letters which could trigger a no-confidence vote, have already been sent to 1922 Committee chair Sir Graham Brady.
“Liz is f*****. She is taking on markets and the Bank of England,” the MP told the broadcaster, saying she and Treasury ministers were “playing A-level economics with people’s lives”.
The ex-minister added: “They are already putting letters in as think she will crash the economy. The tax cuts don’t matter as it is all noise anyway – mainly reversing back to the status quo this year.
“The issue is government fiscal policy is opposite to Bank of England monetary policy – so they are fighting each other. What Kwasi gives, the Bank takes away … You cannot have monetary policy and fiscal policy at loggerheads.”
Tory MP Mel Stride, chair of the Treasury select committee, has suggested that Mr Kwarteng had been wrong to signal further tax cuts on Sunday, amid the dramatic decline in the value of the pound.
“One thing is for sure – it would be wise to take stock of how through time the markets weigh up recent economic announcements rather than immediately signalling more of the same in the near term,” he said.

Same old, same old: Liz Truss’s Net Zero ‘Review’ to be Led by Creator of Current Policy

During the Tory leadership campaign, Liz Truss realised Net Zero was not popular among party members so she agreed to have a Net Zero Policy Review. Unfortunately, she has appointed Chris Skidmore MP to conduct this review. He is a former Minister for Climate Change and one of the architects of our present Net Zero policy, so the opposite of a fresh pair of eyes. Indeed, on accepting the appointment he tweeted: “I’m committed to ensuring we continue to lead the world in our Net Zero plans.”

Quote:I’m delighted to have been invited by the PM to conduct a review into meeting our Net Zero commitments in the most economically-efficient way.
I’m committed to ensuring we continue to lead the world in our Net Zero plans in a way that is pro-business and pro-growth 1/2
— Chris Skidmore (@CSkidmoreUK) September 8, 2022

Not a great start for a review to say you are going to continue the present policy! And this ridiculous talk of “lead the world” needs to be dumped. The U.K. is responsible for an insignificant 1% of global CO2 emissions. Three countries, China and America and India, are responsible for 50% of the global CO2 emissions. What is the point of the U.K. paying the early-adopter cost of rushing to achieve Net Zero when these three countries are all moving so slowly?
This week an event named the Net Zero Festival is taking place in London. According to its website, “The climate crisis presents a real and present danger to global development and stability”. Chris Skidmore is the keynote speaker at the event, so presumably he believes this alarmism and exaggeration. Since the Industrial Revolution, the Earth’s temperature is reported to have risen by just one degree. This is a significant rise and possibly a concern, but it is nowhere near a ‘climate crisis’ and a ‘danger to global stability’.
These claims are based on the wilder predictions of climate models, but there is an increasing public and scientific realisation that these models cannot be trusted. During the pandemic, one of the main reasons the country repeatedly went into lockdowns was because of the frightening predictions of epidemiological models. With hindsight, we now know these predictions were wrong. If scientists cannot predict the spread of a virus several weeks ahead then how can they be trusted to predict the temperature of the Earth several decades ahead? The answer is they can’t and over 1,100 scientists recently signed the World Climate Declaration, which concluded that “climate models have many shortcomings and are not remotely plausible as global policy tools”.

The Real Cause of Britain’s Economic Woes

The collapse of European economies has now begun, starting with the continent’s weakest economic link: Britain.
This country’s collapse was triggered by the release of the new Government’s budget last Friday. The budget was ridiculous – an expansionary package in an economy with high inflation and an enormous trade deficit – and it sparked a sell-off in the gilts market, which soon spread to the market for sterling. Pension funds are now facing huge losses. Next will come more inflation, a recession and higher unemployment.
The media has leapt to blame the Government – as if a single budget announcement could trigger a full-scale economic collapse. “Are you ashamed of what you’ve done?” BBC Radio Kent asked Liz Truss, in a shallow spectacle that has become all too common in contemporary Britain.
The truth, however, is that the budget was just an excuse. The financial markets have been making noise about the economic situation for weeks. At the beginning of September, traders were jokingly referring to the “British peso”; rumours were circulating of British bond trading desks handing off their trades to the emerging markets crisis desk. Anyone with any exposure to the City knew what was going on. That should have included the Bank of England and the Treasury – who appear to have been asleep at the wheel since the war in Ukraine started; nay, since the lockdowns started.
What was the City worried about? High inflation and an out-of-control trade deficit. At the end of August, Goldman Sachs projected inflation in the U.K. would reach 22% next year. A few days later Deutschebank projected a current account deficit of 10%, something unprecedented outside of basket-case emerging markets that experience serious financial bubbles.
What was the cause of these imbalances? The answer is simple: energy costs. Britain imports a lot of energy. When the cost of energy rises, imports balloon and the trade balance collapses. These higher costs are passed on to consumers and henceforth comes inflation. This is a crisis not simply facing Britain but all of Europe; Britain fell first because it was the slowest animal in the pack.

Russian spy chief weighs in on Truss’ alleged ‘It’s done’ text

The head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin says he has “indirect confirmation” that the message reading “It’s done” that then-UK PM Liz Truss allegedly sent to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was about the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
During his brief interview with Rossiya 1 channel on Sunday, Naryshkin was asked whether Russian intelligence believed there were “ample grounds” to link Truss’ text message to the explosions at the bottom of the Baltic Sea in late September, in which three out of four lines of the Nord Stream were damaged.
“I only have indirect confirmation that all this has grounds under it,” the spy chief responded.
In late October, Russia’s defense ministry openly blamed the UK for being involved in the sabotage of the pipelines, which carried Russian gas to Europe through Germany. According to the ministry, “British specialists” from the Royal Navy, based in the Ukrainian city of Ochakov, “took part in planning, supporting and executing” the attack on the pipelines.
London responded to the accusations with a tweet, claiming that Moscow was“peddling false claims of an epic scale.”
Last week,  Finnish-German tech businessman and social media personality Kim Dotcom claimed on Twitter that Truss messaged “It’s done” to Blinken “a minute after the pipeline blew up and before anybody else knew.”
The entrepreneur didn’t provide any proof to his claims, but suggested that Moscow based its accusations against London and Washington of Nord Stream sabotage based on the data it obtained from hacking the UK PM’s phone.
