Less solar activity causes more volcanic eruptions, presumably because the earth's crust cools and contracts a bit, necessitating pressure release. We are in a solar minimum, volcanoes are going crazy around the world, and pretty soon a big one or two might pop. Months ago we were pelted with the phrase 'dark winter,' and it hasn't really played out, but I think we can expect a dark winter next year, followed by a dark spring and summer, etc. The last time this happened was the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora, which led to the 'Year Without a Summer' in 1816. Expect much worse.
