President Trump nominated Elaine L. Chao (born in Taiwan) to Secretary of Transportation, which the Senate confirmed by a vote of 93-6 (her husband Senator Mitch McConnell didn’t refrain from voting…).
Elaine Chao has earlier served as a Reagan administration official and secretary of labor in the George W. Bush cabinets (from 2001 to 2009). Elaine Chao is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Elaine’s father, James S.C. Chao, was a classmate of Jiang Zemin, the president of China in the ’90s at Jiao Tong University. They have kept in touch ever since.
Through James Chao, Elaine and Mitch McConnell met Jiang several times, both in Beijing and Washington. When Jiang visited the White House in 1997, he met privately with Elaine and Mitch McConnell, before a state dinner hosted by President Clinton; Senator McConnell again met Jiang the next morning.
In 1999, Elaine and Mitch appeared at the University of Louisville with Chinese Ambassador Li Zhaoxing.

When James Chao emigrated from Taiwan to the USA, he founded the Foremost Maritime Corporation upon settling in New York. Foremost transports goods to China and buys its ships from the China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
Senator Mitch McConnell’s ties to the Chao family go back to the late 1980s, when James Chao began donating to his campaigns. In 1993, McConnell married Elaine Chao.
In April 2008, James Chao gave Elaine and Mitch $5 - $25 million to help the McConnells get over the dip in their stock portfolio after the financial crisis earlier that year. The generous gift made McConnell one of the wealthiest in the Senate, with an estimated net worth of $22.8 million.

In 1989, Elaine sought out John Huang to help raise money for Republican senators. In 1993, Huang, then head of the Lippo Bank (based in Indonesia), arranged a coalition of Chinese banks and individuals to sponsor Chao’s visit to Los Angeles as the new head of United Way.
Huang also donated $2,000 to McConnell illegally as part of a foreign money-laundering scheme.
Elaine has been a director for Protective Life Corp., which owns 50% of CRC Protective Life Insurance. Lippo co-owns the rest of the Hong Kong-based insurance company with China Resources Holdings Co., a front company for China’s People Liberation Army.
Lippo is controlled by the Riady family and was at the centre of the Clinton “Chinagate” fundraising scandal. Lippo´s chief executive James T. Riady pled guilty to a felony charge for illegally donating to the campaign of Bill Clinton.

One of Elaine’s patrons was Maurice “Hank” Greenberg.
Greenberg is chairman and chief executive of the New York-based American International Group (AIG), which does a lot of business in China.
Greenberg and AIG, through its employee PAC, have donated thousands of dollars to Mitch McConnell’s campaigns. Mitch also received large sums for speeches for AIG.
AIG has also hired Henry A. Kissinger, for his connections (including in China).

Chao also served on the board of directors for Bloomberg Philanthropies, the foundation started by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg gives money to the Sierra Club’s program of sustainable development (the problem of overpopulation…).

as Joe Biden inches towards victory with wins in several key swing states by razor thin margins - while Trump launches lawsuits to try and overturn those results.

Trump has launched legal action in Michigan and Wisconsin, which Biden claimed Wednesday, and Pennsylvania, where Biden is creeping towards victory, in an attempt to stop vote counting and reverse the results - which had been going his way until mail-in ballots were tallied.
The opposite is true in Arizona, which was initially called for Biden as he sat on a lead of 200,000 votes. That has now been cut to just 13,000. If Trump can claim it, Biden's path to victory is far from clear.
Trump has also launched legal action in Georgia, another state that showed him with an early lead but where Biden now hopes to win. Counting is also ongoing in North Carolina, with the outcome far from certain.

Trump protesters descended on counting centers in both Michigan and Arizona - demanding that the vote count be stopped in the former state, and demanding it continue in the latter


'So we'll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court,' Trump said in a speech to supporters at the White House where he railed against TV networks for making election calls that went against him while pointing out the battleground states where he holds leads over Joe Biden.

Most gullible fools seem to believe that their vote “counts”. In reality in the “land of the free” it is up to corrupt lawyers to decide who has “democratically” won.
With President Donald in firm control of the US courts, he remains the favourite to win.

In 2019, President Donald already started building a massive legal network to dispute a possible election victory of Joe Biden.
Dozens of lawyers from three major law firms have been hired - Consovoy McCarthy (that tried to stop Congress and New York prosecutors from receiving Trump’s financial records); Jones Day (which has already made millions from the Trump campaign); and King and Spalding (which once employed FBI Director Christopher Wray). Literally thousands of volunteer attorneys and poll watchers have been recruited.
Even before Election Day, Republicans have spent $20 million to challenge voting rule changes (like mail in ballots).

The Biden campaign has assembled the biggest voter protection program in history to ensure the election runs smoothly and to combat any attempt by Donald Trump to create fear and confusion with our voting system, or interfere in the democratic process.

President Donald could have a motive for keep screaming “voter fraud” in an attempt to raise money.
Trump has bombarded his fans with requests for money to pay the legal fees for challenging Biden’s win. The disclaimer shows that part of this money won’t go to pay for these legal fees at all.

One disclaimer said that 50% of the donation would go to paying off the president’s “campaign debt”, with the other 50% to the voter fraud legal fees.
Another Trump fundraising campaign leads to the Trump Make America Great Again Committee — a joint committee by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., and the Republican National Committee (RNC).

After some media reported some critical stories, a new PAC was started - Save America. Now 60% are going to Save America and 40% to the RNC. Only after some threshold is met, money will go to paying legal costs.
These kind of “slush funds” (as some cynics call them) – PACs - are very flexible. Donald could use the cash on election campaigns for himself (which Trumptards probably won’t mind) and other politicians (that are well-known for pay-to-play kind of favours).

Joe Biden is also asking for donations for the legal challenges to protect his election win. The fine print shows that the first $142,000 contributed could go to the Democratic National Committee (this seems a little less flexible that Donald’s Save America PAC).

Larry Noble, former general counsel at the Federal Election Commission, explained that Trump could use the cash to finance his future in politrics:

He’s really making a big deal about the challenge to the election, and that may very well be why a lot of people may give without paying attention to, or understanding, what the political language is. It’s pretty dangerous to our democracy to use attacking our elections as a fundraising tool.

Some cynics note that judges have quickly dismissed many of Donald’s “voter fraud” lawsuits, because the whole hysteria is nothing but a charade (without merit in legal jargon)…

Only after a donor reaches the maximum contribution limit for each group — $5,000 for Trump’s Save America PAC and $35,000 for the Republican National Committee — the (rest of the) money will go into legal accounts for Trump and continues to flow to the RNC.
I’m no “expert” at this but this doesn’t sound convincing to me (so I think this analysis is wrong).
$5,000 for the Save America PAC (at 60%) will be reached when a donor reaches $8333.
$35,000 for the RNC (at 40%) will be reached when a donor reaches $87,500.

Leadership PACs (like Save America) have long been misused. They can legally be used to pay for questionable expenses.

They could pay (Trump) children consulting fees. They could pay the children’s significant others consulting fees. They could buy Don Jr.’s book, which the campaign can’t do. They could do anything with it. There’s no personal use restriction.

According to campaign finance attorney with the Common Cause, Paul S. Ryan:

This is a slush fund. That’s the bottom line. Trump may just continue to string out this meritless litigation in order to fleece his own supporters of their money and use it in the coming years to pad his own lifestyle while teasing a 2024 candidacy.

These “experts” agree that the money for Biden’s legal fees to defend his election win, is a lot less dubious.
