NHS Confederation chief executive Matthew Taylor has urged the government to bring back certain measures, including mandatory face coverings in public places.
Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has insisted there will not be another national lockdown after an NHS leader warned the PM that ‘Plan B’ coronavirus restrictions must be enforced immediately to prevent the UK “stumbling into a winter crisis”.
NHS Confederation chief executive Matthew Taylor has urged the government to bring back certain measures, including mandatory face coverings in public places, telling Sky News: “The overwhelming evidence is that we do need to act.”
His remarks came as the UK recorded 223 COVID-related deaths on Tuesday – the highest number of daily fatalities since 9 March.
But asked by Kay Burley on Sky News whether the UK could be facing another lockdown, Mr Kwarteng said: “I would rule that out.”
Speaking on Wednesday morning, the business secretary added: “I think the conversation about restrictions on travel, restrictions on more lockdowns is completely unhelpful.”

Boris Johnson has issued a stark warning to the over-40s and said that booster coronavirus jabs will likely be needed to allow adults to travel without quarantine or restriction – but refuses to rule out a Christmas lockdown.
The Prime Minister today revealed that eight million adults over the age of 40 will be offered the third jab in a bid to reduce the risk of Covid restrictions this winter and allow passengers to travel without needing to quarantine.
Mr Johnson warned of a Covid ‘blizzard from the East’ as ministers refused to rule out re-imposing tough travel restrictions on Europe amid fears over surging cases.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said all adults over the age of 40 should be offered a booster, six months after their second dose as new data shows the booster cuts the risk of infection by more than 80 per cent.
Since September all over-50s and the clinically vulnerable – 32million Britons in total – have been eligible for third doses. Yesterday this was extended to all those aged 40 to 49, who can book their jabs from Monday.
Speaking at a Downing Street press conference, Mr Johnson said: ‘If we want to control the epidemic here in the UK and if we want to avoid restrictions on our daily lives we must all get vaccinated as soon as we are eligible.’

Aboutaleb described the events of Friday night as an “orgy of violence,” after protesters packed Rotterdam’s central Coolsingel shopping street to voice their opposition to an ongoing partial lockdown, a ban on New Year’s Eve fireworks displays, and the possibility of a two-tiered system of freedom in the Netherlands, one of liberty for the vaccinated and restrictions for those without the jab.
The protest soon got out of hand, and police said on Saturday that 57 people were arrested. Protesters were seen torching police vehicles and launching fireworks at police, who shot at them in response.
Aboutaleb said that the cops had been “forced” to use their weapons. “On a number of occasions the police felt it necessary to draw their weapons to defend themselves,” he told reporters. “They shot at protesters, people were injured.”

I think it was a shock for many of us when the news of compulsory vaccination came today from our neighbouring country Austria.

Of course, it was clear to everyone that this was the perfect plan for Germany, and as was to be expected, our beloved Södolf also jumped on this bandwagon and demanded mandatory vaccination in our country as well, just minutes after the announcement.

But after the first short shock, when the brain can think clearly again, one thing struck me....

Why on earth does this compulsory vaccination only start on 1 February 2022????

If these tyrants are already planning to implement it, there is nothing in the world that can stop them from doing it tomorrow. No one could stop them anyway. But then why wait so long?

There is only one logical explanation to this question. The psychological pressure on the population will be massively intensified during these two and a half months. In other words, the masses of hitherto indomitable vaccine opponents will be forced to run "voluntarily" into the syringe. But why is this "voluntarism" so important to you?

The answer is very simple. As long as a person does something "voluntarily," he bears the responsibility and liability for it. The second it really happens by official state coercion, the one who issued the order bears the legal responsibility. Legally, this is an incredibly big difference and, in the light of the possible threat of Nuremberg Trials 2.0, possibly life-changing.

So whether this compulsory vaccination actually comes to Austria in February or not, God knows. The tyrants, however, are only interested in forcing as many people as possible to be injected without responsibility.

We are in the endgame and it is only a matter of holding out until the whole sham collapses. Which will undoubtedly happen because the combination of "vaccine breakthrough" and vaccine damage can no longer be kept secret, and even the lying and corrupt mass media will no longer help. With this knowledge in mind, the criminal elites have no choice but to go full throttle. Hang in there and don't give up is the motto now! It's them who are running out of time, not us...

Piers Corbyn and a group of fellow anti-lockdown protesters have appeared in court accused of breaking coronavirus restrictions over a year ago.
The former Labour leader’s brother, 74, is charged with holding and participating in a gathering of over 30 people at Trafalgar Square on August 29, 2020.
Piers is also facing similar charges of holding and attending gatherings in Trafalgar Square on August 26, 2020, and October 24, 2020, in Westminster on November 28 and on the South Bank on December 31 that year.
Other anti-lockdown protesters facing trial are Louise Creffield, 35, Vincent Dunmall, 55, Fiona Hine, 36, and Kay Shemirani, 55.
The trial of Hine and Shemirani is due to start at Westminster Magistrates Court next Monday while the others appeared separately.
Hine is representing herself and wants to call witnesses including politicians Sadiq Khan and Matt Hancock, epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, Metropolitan police commander Alex Murray and Deputy Chief Medical Officer Professor Jonathan Van-Tam.

Wales will close nightclubs and enforce social distancing in offices after Christmas in a bid to tackle Omicron.
The new restrictions, part of a ‘two-phase plan’, will see two-metre social distancing become mandatory in shops and business from December 27, alongside measures including one-way systems and physical barriers to protect customers and staff.
First Minister Mark Drakeford said regulations will also be changed to include a requirement to work from home wherever possible.
It comes after the UK recorded its highest daily case tally since the pandemic began today with 88,376 new infections.
Until December 27, the Welsh Government is encouraging people to follow five steps, including getting vaccinated, making sure to have a negative lateral flow test result before going shopping or meeting people, meeting in well-ventilated areas – preferably outdoors, spacing out socialising to allow test days in between, and adhering to social distancing, wearing a face covering and washing hands.
It is also urging people to reduce contact with others over the coming days, especially if Christmas plans include seeing older or more vulnerable people.

McDonald’s to close restaurants in UK and Ireland on Monday -

All McDonald’s restaurants in the UK and the Republic of Ireland will close by 7pm on Monday to protect the safety of employees and customers, the company said.
The announcement followed news from other retailers including Waterstones, Primark and Patisserie Valerie that they would also close. Later on Sunday Nando’s announced its outlets would also close.

The fast-food company said it had taken the “difficult decision” in a statement posted to Twitter – adding that stores will close by that time on Monday “at the latest”.
The decision comes after Boris Johnson called for pubs, clubs and restaurants to shut on Friday…

Boris Johnson tonight declared that Christmas can definitely go ahead ‘cautiously’ – but England’s top scientists suggested restrictions may still be needed afterwards to cope with further strain on the NHS.
Amid rising anger that millions of people are being left in limbo, the PM completely ruled out any further curbs being introduced before December 25.
But he gave notice that the government is still monitoring the ‘finely balanced’ situation with Omicron ‘very carefully’ and is ‘ready to take action’ afterwards if necessary.
The short-term clarity came after Nicola Sturgeon dramatically cancelled large-scale New Year celebrations in Scotland, reintroducing limits on households mixing, table service in hospitality and crowds at major events.
Meanwhile, another 90,629 Covid cases were recorded in 24 hours across the UK, along with 172 deaths. A further 15,363 infections with the Omicron variant have been confirmed, bringing the total to 60,508 – although the pace of spread looks potentially slower than initially feared.
It came as medical and science chiefs Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance tonight briefed MPs on the state of play with Omicron, in what many saw as an effort to ‘roll the pitch’ for restrictions.
Reports following the meeting suggested the pair had warned of ‘huge staff shortages’ in the NHS over the coming days as a result of the spread of the virus.
