Moral of the story? They want to target gay men now: ‘Monkeypox vaccine pop-ups overwhelmed with demand as at-risk gay men rush to get jab.’ Wake up people, whatever your sexuality
Monkeypox vaccine pop-ups in London have been overwhelmed with demand as at-risk gay men rush to get the jab.
People queued for over four hours at Guy’s Hospital pop-up to get vaccinated against monkeypox on Sunday, while many others left disappointed after arriving too late to get the jab.
One man waited in line for over four hours for the vaccine after travelling down from Manchester last minute when he heard about the pop-up.
“It was quite a long queue, but definitely worth it,” said David Wilde, 30. “It’s really nice to see the amount of people who have come out to get the jab as well.”
“I thought it was really important to come down today and to wait in line no matter how long it took to get the vaccine,” he told i, explaining that two of his friends who contracted the virus were hospitalised.
Yesterday, World Health Organisation declared Monkeypox a global health emergency as cases rise around the world, including 2,208 confirmed cases in the UK.
