Even if you don't see any danger in smart meters please remember that by having one you are helping to put someone out of work, just the same as the self service check outs - I never use them for the same reason.

We had a guy come and read our house meters a few weeks ago. I asked him how he felt about being put out of a job by Smart meters (We don't have them) He said for now his bosses have told them that they still have to come and read the meters, smart or otherwise. When I asked what was the point in having the smart meter, he replied I don't know, I am just doing what they tell me.
I wonder why they are still being told to read 'Smart' meters? I have smart meter at my business premises (it was installed before I took up the lease) and it never works, I am forever having to read it for the company and send them the reading... I use very little energy though, around £20 a month. perhaps it doesn't care to monitor so little activity? The meter is locked away in a wooden box, perhaps to WiFi signal isn't so strong? Either way, Smart meters are the devils work and should be avoided at all costs. cheers all
I am aware, therefore I am.

My energy provider keeps sending my emails trying to persuade me into getting a smart meter. I will NEVER have one! I'd some how go off grid before one of those where to be installed in my home!
I think there will come a time, probably in the not so dsitant future, that we will be posed with a choice...either smart meter or go off grid. There's a guy on YT that does pretty good videos all about off grid living if anyone is interested

Any one looked at the work of Josh Del Sol? Richie has interviewed him, a while back. i think the name of his group is Impower. There are several very good tutorials on you tube. As well as the interview with Richie.
I would like to share my story. In the area where I live we have Duke Energy. Last summer, they sent out this little 3x5 post card saying "Meter upgrade coming soon." the info was non info, basic nothing. No where did it say if you want to opt out... So I call the question # provided. The lady who answered was " Do you have a question about the meter up grade?" Very up beat & cheerful. I said' "Yes. Where can I opt out." You could have heard a pin drop..So she connects me to a Duke rep. who talks to me like a 3 year old. I'll paraphrase. He said, you can download an app to see how much power you use anytime, this meter will run more efficiently, so only the power you use will be monitored. To which I said, This is what I know about power & people, if it's hot, they turn on the air, if it's cold they turn up the heat, they don't care. He said if I opt out I will be charged $150.00 & an extra $11.76 per month for some one to read my meter. I said good, I kept some one their job, we need more of those. To date none of this has happened. I asked when this installation was going to happen. 3 weeks. (this was Monday) I got busy, printed fliers with website pro & con, mostly con. On Wednesday, I was putting out my fliers, but too late my neighborhood had smart meters installed. We have had 1 house fire,( I went there & spoke to the owners) but except for community word of mouth, nothing printed or reported in the news. Good news Duke Energy is paying for the repairs. Keep fighting! Carolinabece

E-on reps were in my area recently, unfortunately for them I was in bed when they knocked so didn't answer (I work nights) The young couple who live above me and the pensioners next door both agreed to get them in, I tried in vain to get them to cancel, they both fell for the "Its going to be mandatory soon so may as well get them now" line and yes I've received the card through the door explaining how great life will be being able to monitor my usage, talking to my neighbours all they do now is fret when the reader in their living rooms shoot up when the run a bath, turn kettle on or switch heating on
My brother also got them in (Grrr) and all he has done is complain about it, every bill is an estimate, the power companies excuse is the pulse isn't strong enough to reach the reader on the lamp post outside Question - Can I padlock my meter cupboards?

I received a letter from Npower "We're changing over to Smart meters" in early December 2016, complete with enclosed "information leaflet". This was my reply:
""Following receipt of your letter dated 28/11/16 outlining Npower's plans for switching to Smart Meters, I have carefully read everything in the letter and accompanying information leaflet but I cannot find any advice for those customers (such as myself!) who want to OPT OUT of having any smart meters installed in their homes. My consumption of both gas and electricity is at the lower, certainly below average end of the spectrum and I don't need any "smart" devices or persons "tracking" my energy usage - I am perfectly capable (and happy) to do that for myself. I believe (possibly like many other customers) that I should be able to exercise my right to choose NOT to have smart meters installed in my property. I don't think they're necessary as I give regular meter readings by email and phone, which I'm happy to continue doing. I hardly ever receive an estimated bill, and in the rare instance when I do, it's never more than a few pounds away from the actual meter reading - because my energy usage is quite predictable and I don't need a Smart Meter to help me keep track of things."" ... To cut to the chase, nearly 14 months later, I've not heard anymore from Npower about Smart Meters being installed. The more people refuse them, the more it puts a spanner in the works of the agenda. Just to add to my previous post about Smart Meters, for anyone wanting more information about the dangers they pose, please seek out the following website: http://www.naturalblaze.com It is a fantastic resource of information about the dangers of vaccinations, GMOs, emf/rf microwave radiation, wi-fi and, of course, smart meters.
