china ended that policy. now it's 2 kids.
planned parenthood does do some good, in modern times, though i suppose that's probably true of most of these types of organizations. also, this is one of those hidden in plain sight histories. people know about its origins (i remember learning that as a kid, though i can't remember if it was via school or tv), just no one talks about it much. i suppose everyone assumes/hopes its nothing like that now.
i had no idea wwf was connected to this issue at all. i still see the cute panda stickers they used to distribute when i was a kid whenever i see their name. for some reason, i find myself hoping they've at least genuinely done some good for animals in all these years.
i found out several years back that mensa has an interest group (basically, same idea as meetups) for eugenics. i was absolutely appalled.
oh, and what did you make of the press pouncing on (and somewhat misreporting) wills' brief mention of population growth during his wildlife speech a few months back? and of people telling him & kate, even before that, that they should stop at 2 kids?
