In this post some information on 10 Knights of the Garter involved in supporting Adolf Hitler (at any one time, there are only 24 Knights of the Garter)...
1. Edward VIII, King of the UK (KG in 1911)
The best-known Knight of the Garter to support the German Nazis is Edward, who became King Edward VIII for a relatively short period before abdicating in 1936; because his Nazi ties were a little too obvious to be denied.
2. Prince Charles Edward (KG in 1902, annulled in 1915 or 1919?)
Prince Charles Edward was very close to his cousin, the abdicated King Edward VIII. He already met Hitler in 1922.
In March 1933, Charles Edward joined the Nazi Party and became a member of the SA (Brownshirts).
After Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, he appointed Charles Edward as the president of the Anglo-German Friendship Society to nurture ties with Britain. He was also president of the German Red Cross from 1933 to 1945.
In 1940, Charles Edward travelled via Moscow and Japan to the US, where he met President Roosevelt at the White House.
3. Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart (KG in 1919)
Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart was the 7th Marquess of Londonderry and Winston Churchill’s cousin (who became PM and KG in 1953).
See Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart with Joachim von Ribbentrob and Hitler, 1936.
4. Edward Wood (KG in 1931)
Edward Wood, 1st Earl of Halifax, was Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart’s “fag” (schoolboy servant) at Eton.
In November 1937, Edward Wood met Hermann Goering and Adolf Hitler.
5. Victor Emmanuel III, King of Italy (KG in 1891, annulled in 1941)
Victor Emmanuel III wasn’t only king of fascist Italy from 1900 until his abdication in 1946 but also Emperor of Ethiopia (1936–41) and King of the Albanians (1939–43).
In 1922, King Victor Emmanuel III appointed British intelligence asset Benito Mussolini as Prime Minister of Italy.
6. Hirohito, Emperor of Japan (KG in 1929, annulled in 1941, restored as KG in 1971)
See Crown Prince of Japan Hirohito with Crown Prince Edward (before he became King Edward VIII) in their Garter Sashes, during Hirohito’s six-month stay in Europe, May 1921.
7. Gustaf V, King of Sweden (KG in 1905)
Both King Gustaf V and his grandson Prince Gustav Adolf socialised with Nazi leaders including Adolf Hitler and Herman Goring before World War II was started.
See (from left) Prince Gustav Adolf, Hermann Göring, and King Gustaf V in Berlin, February 1939.
In June 1941, King Gustaf V sent a telegram to the German embassy in Stockholm to thank Hitler for taking care of the "Bolshevik pest" by invading the Soviet Union.
In 1938, US President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked King Gustaf V to negotiate with Adolf Hitler "in the interest of peace".
Following his death in 1950, aged 92, it became known that King Gustaf V had a gay love affair with Kurt Haijby in the 1930s. Homosexuality was a criminal offense in Sweden until 1944 (of course Gustaf as King was immune from prosecution).
8. Paul, Prince Regent of Yugoslavia (KG in 1939)
Paul was educated at the University of Oxford, where he was a member of the notorious Bullingdon Club. He was said to have a British outlook on life.
Paul became close friends with Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Sir Henry Channon.
King George VI (a.k.a. Bertie), then Duke of York, was best man at Paul’s wedding in Belgrade.
In 1939, Prince Paul on the invitation of Adolf Hitler made a 9 days official visit to Berlin.
Paul was greeted by Hitler at the train station in Berlin, was the guest of honour at a dinner at the Reich Chancellery, visited the Potsdam military base, attended a gala performance at the Berlin opera, and viewed 2 military parades held in his honour.
For the last 3 days of his visit, Paul stayed at Göring’s estate at Carinhall.
See Prince Paul with Adolf Hitler, June 1939.
9. Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands (KG in 1944)
Queen Wilhelmina (like Kings Willem I, II and III) controlled a majority share in the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij (NHM, which had been founded by King Willem I of the Netherlands to plunder Indonesia and to take the opium profits).
The NHM bank owned a stake in the Bank voor Handel en Scheepvaart NV (BHS). When I first looked for the evidence for the ownership it was easily found. When I looked more recently, not findable...
What can’t be denied, however, is that the BHS was handling finances for the House of Orange-Nassau. Several board members of the BHS were appointed on the advice of Prince Bernhard...
What’s easily found is the link from the BHS to the German financier of Adolf Hitler, Fritz Thyssen. Who apparently was working for the Dutch Royals...
One of the subsidiaries of the BHS was the American bank Union Banking Corporation (UBS) that also financed Hitler. The money was routed (laundered) through the Dutch BHS bank, to not be “trading with the enemy” Germany directly.
One of the directors of the UBC was Prescott Bush (also working for the Dutch royals?), the father & grandfather of later US presidents George Bush Sr & Jr. All 3 son of a Bushes were/are knights in Skull & Bones and in the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
See George H.W. “Poppy” Bush chatting with Grandmaster Bertie of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, 1991.
Wilhelmina was finally awarded for her wonderful work for the Allied forces from London when she became a Lady of the Garter in 1944.
10. Queen Juliana of the Netherlands (KG in 1958)
Queen Wilhelmina’s daughter Queen Juliana was born in 1909. Juliana married none other than Prince Bernhard, who worked for a subsidiary of IG Farben and was a bodyguard of Adolf Hitler...
See Bernhard and his brother Aschwin in Wehrmacht uniform, with Princess Juliana, October 1936.
Bernhard had many associates that were collaborating with the “German” Nazis, including co-founder of Bilderberg Paul Rijkens.
Bernhard was also friends with Dutch intelligence and continued to meet German spies in Hotel Weimar, after he had married Juliana.
In the second half of the 1940s, the Dutch KLM smuggled German Nazis to Argentina to escape justice.
At that time Prince Bernhard was on its board of directors.
