With atomic bombs never being more than science fiction, it shouldn't be surprising that science fiction writer H.G. Wells is the inventor of THE bomb...
The same H.G. Wells also invented the moon landing (he wasn't the first on "the first men in the moon" though), the UN, WW I and WW II.
H.G. Wells' (later) books were really geopolitical plans to enslave mankind by the British Empire.
In his 1914 book he described how a world war could be staged using atomic bombs to install a one world government (something like the UN).
