Actually, I remember clearly, [age showing up here] that the UK should not have joined in the first place 40 + years ago - bad move. The separate misty isle off the coast of Mainland Europe has mainly stood alone for close on 1,000 years [from 1066 onwards, when the nation became one - one people. No French invasion; no Spanish invasion and the twice withstanding a German invasion. I do not say this against those countries - purely a statement of fact. Over the last 100 years Britain has twice been the 'launching' pad to free Mainland Europe from oppression. Trying to fit into a united Europe as one identity has never been comfortable to the Brits. I feel a scripture coming on - Numbers 23:9 "For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations." On the positive side, if Britain had not joined back there in the 70's, they would have constantly had pressure to join and wondered what they were missing. Now Britain knows that going it alone, while still being one of the strongest voices for freedom and justice in all nations, is the right choice. Britannia knows, along with her loyalty to the rest of the British Commonwealth (a wee bit neglected over 43 years!) is the correct course and all the outside (or for that matter, inside)  doom and gloom statements will not prevail. Brexit will happen. Be patient. Britain often takes her time. Captain Cook landed in Botany Bay in 1770; Britain then took 18 years before the first settlers arrived on the 24th of January 1788. The French arrived the same day, but bad weather prevented them landing! Two days later - Australia Day - 26th of January - Governor Arthur Phillip raised the British Flag in Sydney Cove - right on time!
