I had already concluded that the whole Ukraine impeachment is a charade. President Trump won´t be impeached for offering help to the president of Ukraine to investigate a corruption case (that involves Joe Biden and his son Hunter).
The following seems to confirm that the “impeachment inquiry” is nothing but a made-for-cable-TV political soap opera. The House of Representatives has not voted as a body to authorise an impeachment inquiry.
Moreover, there are no subpoenas but merely letters that, legally, have no compulsive power: http://archive.is/AgK8B
The following, however, is at the very least more interesting...
Two Soviet-born businessmen with direct links to President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani were arrested on campaign finance charges at Washington’s Dulles International Airport with one-way tickets to Vienna, Austria. They appeared in federal court on Thursday.
The two men, Ukraine-born Lev Parnas and Belarus-born Igor Fruman, gave $325,000 to the pro-Trump super PAC, America First Action, through Global Energy Partners LLC in May 2018. They are accused of circumventing US campaign finance laws through a money-laundering scheme by setting up the energy company in Florida to hide that their funding comes from an unnamed foreign national.
According to the OCCRP, also in May 2018, Parnas and Fruman had dinner with president Donald and met Donald Trump Jr.
Two other men, the Ukrainian Andrey Kukushkin and US citizen David Correia, were also indicted in the same case. Correia is not in federal custody.
Fruman and Parnas also raised thousands of dollars for an unnamed congressman in order to remove the then US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch. Campaign finance records suggest that this congressman is former Texas Republican Pete Sessions.
In one of those strange coincidences, Yovanovitch was dismissed by the Trump administration earlier this year. Yovanovitch is expected to testify before the House of Representatives on Friday (today).
Giuliani is a central figure in the impeachment charade, as Trump offered Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky that he could help to “look into” the Bidens’ dealings in the Ukraine. Parnas and Fruman had lunch with Giuliani at the Trump International Hotel hours before they tried to leave the USA.

Giuliani previously said that he had worked with Parnas and Fruman to help him launch an investigation of the Bidens in Ukraine. In May, Rudy referred to them as his clients.
