A letter I sent to my Local Paper on Climate Change
#4
Hi Urs.
Thank you for your reply, I am a Christian Pastor so I have a Biblical slant on my letters and that is why they publish them. Here are a couple.

For as long as I can remember, there has been a Domesday Clock. Apparently it is closer to midnight now, than it ever has been. As a child during the Cold War, we were informed if we saw a nuclear flash and we ducked and covered under a school desk, we would be 'safe'. Even with the threat of Global nuclear annihilation, I was personally not aware, of the current levels of fear and anxiety, that are ever present, here in 2020.
Perhaps we can thank the News media for that.
We the general public, have all been constantly made aware of a second wave of this pandemic but an older still popular threat, got a mention again, just recently, the 'Climate Catastrophe'.
It seems that there are 'extreme' and 'unprecedented' high temperatures in the Arctic circle, causing the ice to melt. The 'Climate scientists'(not all scientists by the way) have long theorised that this type of event, would cause, islands to submerge, along with Venice and the Netherlands. You would think that we would be already seeing evidence, of that right now.
Before we put away our snow boards and get out our surf boards, to ride the Global warming tsunami of destruction, I have some uneducated questions to ask.
Does ice, so increase in volume after it thaws out, that it can submerge whole tropical islands?
Perhaps God has compensated for summer in the Northern hemisphere, by making sure that, it is winter in the Southern hemisphere, Antarctica was -68c yesterday. According to one 'trusted' source, that the great god GOOGLE informed me of.
Logic though tells me that when, the six months of darkness returns to the Arctic, along with the -40c, the ice will also return. What would I know I am no expert.
In Genesis when God spoke of his natural Creation, the water cycles etc, he said it was good.
He even said it was good, after he had created mankind. We were also all given this assurance, Gen 8:22 KJV While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Jesus said,
Rev 1:8 KJV I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
So the Lord, not only knows how it all began but he also knows exactly how it ends.

How vain is mankind really, to think that every thing that happens on Earth, is as a result of their actions and that they alone hold all the solutions, to its longevity and salvation. Perhaps the Creator is always in control and always has been. That's my hope.

Here's another one.
During a recent conversation with one of our grandchildren, I asked him, (currently in year 4 at school), if the teacher and the class discussed the world’s current situation. His reply was yes, I then asked him if the children were afraid because of it, his reply to that question was also yes. I went on to share my childhood experience, of adults not sharing everything with their children and just letting them be kids. I am not talking about being taught history at school, that in its self, is not frightening, only when it is being repeated before our eyes.
Currently children are being exposed to Race riots, viruses, Climate catastrophes, gender issues and Lock downs; all in school classrooms, things that adults can’t process, so how can children be expected to. The long term anxiety and feeling of hopelessness may end up being far more dangerous and far reaching, than this current virus situation. I also remember as a child, adults rarely discussing ‘adult issues’ in front of children at dinner parties; they were left, until after they had told the kids to go out and play. That has all changed because children can now interject and correct adults, on what the politically correct current view point is, in a discussion. I had to laugh once, when I was listening to a radio talk show in the car and a mother was being berated by callers, for the hennas crime of repairing teenage daughters torn jeans. Obviously the well-meaning mother didn’t know that the daughter had spent a large sum of money, buying the jeans, already nearly worn out. It’s funny that the generation that first used the word cool, have become so uncool today. We used to wear out new jeans the old fashion way.
How frustrating is it for our children, to be presented with Catastrophic climate narratives, many of which have always occurred. Without viable solutions fully explained to them. All they are left with, is a feeling of the hopelessness, knowing full well they are powerless to change any of it. Just as I was, with the nuclear future overshadowinhg my childhood experience
I am not sure if that is the type of articles you are after .
Regards Greg
