Before Mohammad, the worship of Allah a moon god, was prominent amongst the inhabitants of the middle east. The existing temples including the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, had the Qibla facing in the direction of the city of Petra and not in direction of Mecca, as all of the latter Mosques do. In fact Mohammad was probably born in Petra also. Lets no let truth get in the way of a good story though. The Koran teaches that Jesus (Esa, means savior) is in heaven and that Mohammad is not. Both the Muslims and the Mormons believe that an angel appeared to there prophet and told them to preach something different. Where as Jesus himself appeared to the Apostle John and gave him the book of Revelation, much of which is currently playing out. Why bother sending an angel, when you can do it yourself.
