Full Moon In Pisces-
Transitions & Sensitivity…
We are having a Full Moon in Pisces on September 20th/21st. It will appear the brightest on the night of the 20th throughout the world. This is the peak of the Lunar cycle that began with a New Moon In Virgo on September 6th/7th.
The energies of a Full Moon are strongest in the days surrounding it yet its astrological configurations also play a part over the following two weeks. You may start to see its themes slowly build up after the New Moon prior.
This is a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Pisces and the Sun in Virgo. It can play out as either a conflict, an integration, or some sort of dynamic between the energies of both signs. The Moon reflects the expression of feeling and emotion while the Sun reflects the expression of ego and conscious self.
We may feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us; with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Piscean side and others expressing the Virgoan side. In some cases, Full Moons can also reflect/trigger some sort of change or release.
Full Moon In Pisces Close To Neptune, Opposite Sun In Virgo, Approaching Equinox
We have been in Virgo season since August 22nd/23rd which will continue until September 22nd/23rd. Virgo is an Earth sign ruled by Mercury. It is associated with tasks, duty, service, productivity, practicality, organizing, analyzing, perfection, physical health, cleanliness, sustainability, and purity.
Virgo is systematic, detailed, discerning, discriminating, diligent, and efficient. Virgo corresponds with problem solving, adjusting to changing conditions, and coming up with solutions. Negatively, Virgo energy can be cynical, overly critical, fussy, high strung, and too much in the head.
The Full Moon highlights and brings the energies of the opposing sign of Pisces into this Virgo backdrop. The Moon is near Neptune which is associated with Pisces (viewed as a modern ruler) and has similar energies, therefore increasing the same themes.
Pisces is a Water sign, although it is linked to Neptune, it is traditionally ruled by Jupiter. It is associated with sensitivity, compassion, empathy, spirituality, creativity, art, inspiration, dreams, imagination, oneness, and idealism. Pisces can be psychic, mystical, healing, and retreating. Negatively, this sign can also be unrealistic, flaky, elusive, delusional, and deceptive. It is associated with escapism and the intoxication of drugs/alcohol.
This Full Moon is occurring less than two days leading up to the the equinox. This will be the start of Fall in the Northern Hemisphere and beginning of Spring in the South. Equinoxes are periods of transition, not only season wise but also energetically. With this Full Moon occurring near the end of the last sign, the transitional themes of the Equinox are accentuated and potential developments at this time may be reflective of this.
Mercury Trine Jupiter, Square Pluto, Going Retrograde Soon -
As mentioned in my previous article, Mercury in Libra is currently slowing down (from our Earth based vantage point) and will be going retrograde on September 26th/27th. The common and well known inconvenient manifestations of retrograde can already start to be noticeable. Some of things that are playing out throughout September will be connected to shifts and adjustments that occur in October and possibly early November.
At the time of this Full Moon we have Mercury and Jupiter (in Aquarius), the rulers of both Virgo and Pisces, in a trine with each other. This helps harmonize and mitigate the oppositional energies of the Sun, Moon and the signs they are in. Communications, thoughts, and connections with others can be expansive, educational, idealistic, optimistic, philosophical, big picture oriented, or could involve perceived meanings. Some people may receive positive news or be involved in a seemingly beneficial transaction.
Mercury then moves towards a square with Pluto on September 21st-23rd. We can be compulsive, pessimistic, suspicious, or fearful under this influence. Conflicts, manipulation, power struggles, forceful communications, or intense exchanges can also occur. This energy can be good for deep thoughts and conversations, or getting to the bottom of things. Both this transit and Mercury’s trine to Jupiter will also occur again during the upcoming retrograde and therefore these energies will play out during/following it in different ways.
Venus Opposite Uranus, Mars & Sun Trine Saturn
Venus in Scorpio is moving towards an opposition to Uranus in Taurus which will peak on September 22nd/23rd. At best, this can be exciting, stimulating, impulsive, or sudden when it comes to friendships, social life, love, and attraction. However this energy can also be disruptive, separative, unstable, rebellious, or inconsistent when it comes to those areas. For some people, this can play out as financial loss or spending money suddenly without factoring in considerations.
Mars in Libra is in a trine with Saturn which peaks on September 25th/26th followed by the Sun also in a trine Saturn on September 29th/30th. This can be good for disciplined effort and applying ourselves in a structured, responsible, committed, cautious, stable, and realistic way. This will be occurring as Mercury is transitioning to retrograde, so therefore we may still have to contend with nuisances. However these Saturn aspects can help us to be composed and directed while this is happening.
Things To Consider -
What has been coming up for you throughout September when it comes to your relations with others? Do you feel like you need to make important changes or transitions? How can you balance your duties or productivity with your spiritual, emotional, or self-care needs? How does your physical health or personal space reflect your energy?
These are just some examples of themes that could come up or ways to approach this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well. If you wish to do any sort of intentional release, it is best to do so after it begins to wane following the peak or during the two weeks afterwards when it is waning before the next New Moon. The exact peak time for this Full Moon is at 11:55pm Universal Time on September 20th. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.
